Angela Moore Taylor has been practicing law for almost 25 years. Her practice is focused primarily on Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, Advance Medical Directives, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, Probate Administration, Guardianships for Minors, Real Estate Leases, Real Estate Deeds, and Commercial Contracts. Angela discovered her true calling of helping people with their estate planning and probate matters several years ago when she and her family learned that her terminally ill, elderly Father was the victim of elder abuse while living out-of-state and needed an attorney's help with straightening out his affairs.
While serving as her Father's court appointed Guardian, Angela couldn't find a local attorney who was willing to zealously represent her Father's interests or genuinely cared about his well-being. She was not deterred and researched the local statutes and prepared the necessary pleadings herself so she could advocate for him in the local courts. The experience was very stressful, and it made her realize there was a great need for competent, caring and ethical attorneys to guide families through both the estate planning and probate legal processes. Angela vowed to transition her legal practice so that she could help families avoid similar scenarios. She dedicated the next several years to getting the necessary training and honing her craft as an estate planning and probate attorney.
Angela's own personal experiences continue to shape how she approaches her estate planning and probate practice and why she's able to relate so well to her clients who may be emotional and need her to be more than just their lawyer. Angela is committed to treating each of her clients with the highest level of respect and works diligently to advance their personal interests in a competent, compassionate, and ethical manner. Angela especially enjoys getting to know her clients and their families so she can properly guide them through every step of the Estate Planning and/or Probate process so that they achieve their objectives.
Angela is passionate about using her legal platform to educate the community about the importance of doing their estate planning and grateful that individuals and families entrust her to handle their estate planning documents. Angela launched her Woman2Woman Estate Planning Seminars™ in 2017 to address the unique estate planning needs of Women and empower them to build a legacy through their planning. She is excited about launching her new Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning 101 Seminars and Lunch & Learn series for co-ed audiences so that more people are properly informed about the estate planning process.
Angela grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and has been a long-time resident of the Washington, D.C. area since attending college at American University where she graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Following college, Angela worked as a paralegal for several major law firms and at General Motors' headquarters in Detroit, Michigan where she handled litigation, real estate and corporate matters. After five years of working in the legal profession, she knew it was time to finally pursue her childhood dream of becoming a lawyer.
Angela enrolled in Boston College Law School where she was active in the American Bar Association's student division. In 1994, Angela obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School. Shortly thereafter, she began her legal career as a corporate and securities associate at Thompson Hine and subsequently joined Winston & Strawn's Washington, DC office where she specialized in mergers & acquisitions and technology transactions. Prior to joining her husband's firm, Angela worked as an in-house lawyer with National Geographic Society, The American Red Cross and United Way Worldwide where she negotiated complex enterprise wide transactions. Angela brings to her clients at RISM LLC the same level of excellence, professionalism, integrity, attention to detail and client centered approach that has made her a trusted advisor to a wide array of clients throughout her legal career.
Angela lives in downtown Washington, D.C. with her husband and their two children. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, planning events, attending concerts and plays, biking around the monuments, and doing community service for children related charities.
